On November 20, 2011 at around 01:15 am, CDT, the Sioux City Police Department received a report of a shooting that had occurred in the area of the 1200 block of 4th St. A unknown male had arrived at Mercy Medical Center with a gun shot wound.
The victim in this shooting was identified as Brian Henderson, 19 years of age.
Officers were able to establish that Henderson had been in an altercation with another unknown male. The other male pulled a gun from inside his coat and shot the victim. At the time of the shooting, there were aproximately 6 to 7 other males with the suspect and the victim. After the shooting, all parties ran in separate directions.
Henderson jumped into a car of a passerby and asked for help. They drove Henderson to Mercy.
The suspect is described as a African American male, 21 to 25 years of age, 5' 08" tall and was last seen wearing a red ball hat, a large dark coat, dark shirt, baggy jeans, and dark shoes.
The other males in the group were only descibed as African American and in their 20's.
Detectives are looking for any information that may identify the suspect in this shooting as well as witnesses.
