The Sioux City Police Department arrested 22 year-old VASEAN RUSSELL MARKWORTH, Sioux City, for two counts of Robbery and one count of False Imprisonment for two incidents in which he used force or the threat of force to take people’s money or belongings.
Markworth was identified as the suspect in a strong-arm robbery that occurred at 26th & Pierce St on March 30, 2014 at about 7:35 pm in which he used the threat of force to take money and belongings from two 15 year-old males.
On Aril 16, 2014 Markworth committed a strong-arm robbery in the 2400 block of Pierce St at just before 2:20 am.
Markworth attacked a 28 year-old female that was locking up a business after cleaning it. Markworth demanded her cash and debit card.
Markworth forced the female into her car and drove her to a bank in the 2900 block of Hamilton Blvd where she ran out of the car to a nearby business for help. He then fled on foot and was not located at that time. The female was treated and released from a local hospital for minor injuries as a result of the assault.
On April 17, 2014 at about 6:00 am, officers located Markworth in about the 3000 block of Hamilton Blvd and brought him to the station for questioning. Victims from the two robberies identified Markworth as the suspect in both incidents and it appears he acted alone.
Markworth was arrested and booked into the Woodbury County Jail.
