Identification and Property
Sioux City Police Identification Technicians process crime scenes 24 hours a day, 7 days a week 365 days a year. They provide numerous crime scene processing functions including: photographer, latent fingerprint recovery and analysis, DNA collection, FARO Focus 3D scanning, and marijuana collection and analysis. The Identification Unit handles thousands of calls per year. Staff members are Supervisor Carissa Roach, and Identification Technicians Brenda Abel, Zac Chwirka, and Sheila Rogeness. Property Clerk Steve Polak documents and stores crime and video evidence and is in charge of the police property system, property disposal and internal office supply need.
Fingerprinting - ID technicians providing fingerprinting services for the public at the Police Department, 601 Douglas St. The times that fingerprinting is available are walk-in only so there is no need to try to make an appointment. Fingerprinting is available Monday and Wednesdays from 10:00 am - 11:00 am and 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm. There is a $10 flat fee for this service.
Property Room - The property room is open from 6:00 am to 2:00 pm Monday - Friday. The phone number for the property room is 712.279.6977.
