Attempted Murder on S. Rustin Street - 26SC10268

Original Release on April 19, 2026 at 7:00 a.m. - On April 19, 2026, at approximately 12:06 a.m., Sioux City Police along with Sioux City Fire and Rescue were dispatched to the area of 2627 S. Rustin Street for a report of a female struck by a vehicle. Once on scene, officers located an adult female with serious injuries. She was transported to a local hospital. A second female was also located who had been injured as a result of the accident.
Witnesses reported the suspect driver of a 2011 Dodge Journey fled the scene. Officers quickly identified the suspect and located her inside of the vehicle a short time later.
The investigation determined the incident began as a disturbance between the suspect and victim. The suspect then drove over a curb onto the sidewalk, striking multiple parked vehicles before intentionally accelerating toward a group of pedestrians. Witnesses reported the suspect drove directly at the victim, striking and running her over before fleeing.
25-year-old Ramona F. Grant of Sioux City was taken into custody and charged with Attempted Murder along with additional charges. The investigation remains ongoing.
