The Sioux City Police Department announces the arrest of two individuals involved in a willful injury incident that occurred October 11th, 2025.
At approximately 3:00 p.m. today, officers located and arrested 24-year-old Tariq Thomas and 34-year-old Mariah Thomas at 2651 S. Lyons Avenue. Following an ongoing investigation, Tariq Thomas was charged with Willful Injury (Class C Felony) 708.4(1) for the stabbing of 24-year-old Saville Thomas. Mariah Thomas was charged with Obstruction of Justice (Iowa code 719.3) for her involvement in the incident.
The Sioux City Police Department remains committed to thorough and impartial investigations into all violent crimes. Consistent with department policy, investigators worked to ensure that all leads were pursued and that those responsible were held accountable under the law.

Originally released on 10-15-2025 - On Saturday October 11, 2025, at approximately 6:20AM, the Sioux City Police Department along with Sioux City Fire and Rescue responded to a report an individual walking in the 5900 block of Morningside Ave. covered in blood. When police arrived on scene, they located a 24-year-old male suffering from multiple stab wounds. The victim was transported to a local hospital. Sioux City Police Department investigators were called to the scene and determined that this was a targeted attack, and the public is not in danger. The victim was later transported to a hospital in Omaha NE, where he was treated and released.
