Arson Arrest - 25SC37013

Released on Dec. 30, 2025 at 1:25 p.m. - On Dec. 30, 2025, at approximately 9:00AM, SCPD officers along with SCFR were dispatched to Wendy’s at 3805 Gordon Dr. for a report of a fire coming from inside the restaurant. Customers and employees of the restaurant were evacuated while SCFR extinguished the fire and rendered the scene safe.
After reviewing surveillance video, investigators were able to identify a suspect who they believed was responsible for setting the fire. Police located the suspect inside of a business a short distance from where the fire occurred.
Eighteen-year-old Malachi A. Neylon from Council Bluffs IA was arrested and charged with Arson 1st degree and Criminal Mischief 4th degree.
Any arrest/charge noted in this report should be considered merely an accusation. Any defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
